About the client

Nova Poshta is the largest logistics company in Ukraine, with the chain of more than 10 000 branches. With the growth of e-commerce market in the form of both large retailers represented by online stores, as well as marketplaces for small and medium-sized businesses, logistics in Ukraine is actively developing, and the company’s electronic trading and transport invoice and open API system allow to automate the processes from receiving shipments in offices to solving the problem of last mile.

Client challenge

Before partnering with Devlight, Nova Poshta faced several challenges related to the complexity of delivery operations and the rapidly growing volume of mobile interactions. To create a seamless and user-friendly experience, the team needed to simplify logistics workflows while keeping them secure and scalable.

    The key challenges included:

    • Simplifying the receiving and sending process by enabling users to create parcels online, avoid queues, and use QR codes for fast scanning at branches;
    • Ensuring transparent and independent cost calculation so customers could check delivery prices without relying on a courier or branch operator;
    • Implementing secure and accurate verification tools, including ML-based passport scanning, face identification, and automated profile validation.

Solution

Devlight delivered a comprehensive upgrade of the Nova Poshta mobile ecosystem, focusing on performance, usability, and operational efficiency. Our work included the development of a fully native mobile application for iOS and Android, ensuring stable performance under high load and intuitive user flows for creating, tracking, and managing parcels.

We also expanded the platform beyond the consumer app by creating specialized tools for internal operations. This included a workstation application designed for branch operators and couriers, providing a streamlined interface to manage parcel processing, address deliveries, and daily logistics activities. Additionally, we introduced ZEMPCENTER Retail – a Point of Sales SaaS solution that supports end-to-end workflows within the Nova Poshta network.

To improve delivery efficiency, our team developed AWIS – an automatic route calculation system that optimizes daily courier routes. We also added critical functionality such as parcel consolidation, custom templates for quick parcel creation, and enhanced digital tools that reduce branch workload by shifting operational steps into mobile.

The entire solution operates on a robust Google Cloud environment, ensuring scalability, security, and smooth integration with Nova Poshta’s nationwide logistics infrastructure. Through close collaboration with the client, iterative development, and a structured workflow, Devlight delivered a reliable and scalable system used daily by millions of customers and employees across Ukraine.

Product Development Process

1. Discovery & Analysis

The project began with an intensive initial workshop with the client, during which our teams aligned on goals, challenges, and expected outcomes. We created detailed user personas, mapped the full customer journey, and defined the key features required for a seamless logistics experience. Based on these insights, Devlight prepared the initial concept, feature logic, and UX direction for the future mobile ecosystem.

2. UX Prototyping & Interface Design

After establishing the strategic foundation, we moved into hands-on product design. The team developed interactive prototypes, tested core scenarios, and refined flows for parcel creation, tracking, navigation, payments, and returns. Once the UX was validated, we delivered a complete UI design system tailored to Nova Poshta’s brand and logistics use cases – focusing on clarity, speed, and intuitive interactions.

3. Mobile Development & Logistics Automation

Devlight built fully native applications for iOS and Android, ensuring performance, stability, and long-term scalability. At the same time, we developed internal tools such as a workstation app for operators and couriers, and implemented logistics automation systems including AWIS route calculation, parcel consolidation, and quick-creation templates. These solutions significantly optimized daily operations across branches and delivery teams.

4. Infrastructure, Testing & Launch

The entire platform was deployed on a secure and scalable Google Cloud environment. Our team conducted comprehensive QA, performance verification, and security testing to ensure stability during national peak loads. After launch, the system continued to evolve – with new features, operational enhancements, and ongoing support for millions of Nova Poshta users across Ukraine.

Logistics & Courier Ecosystem

We built an integrated logistics system that connects operators, couriers, and routing algorithms.
